Faites vos Jeux! Up to now, it was mainly experienced players who bet on roulette. But little by little, this casino game with the spinning cauldron is also attracting more and more interest from newcomers. So it's no wonder that roulette is now one of the most popular of all games in casinos and online casinos in Switzerland.
The online casino 7Melons.ch offers a big advantage over a casino open to the public: With us, you have the opportunity to test roulette in demo versions for free and learn the rules. With classic games in the casino, this option is not offered in most cases. Here, bets are always required if you want to play.
So gain important experience for free and get to know all aspects and risks in the roulette game before you feel confident enough. Once you have reached an advanced level of play, there is nothing standing in your way: Bet real money, let the ball dance and, with luck, clean up big winnings!
It all starts with the well-known French roulette cry "Faites vos Jeux". In roulette casinos, everyone knows what is meant by this; "Make your game". All players now place their chips. They decide whether to place them all on one square on the tableau or on several. If the chips are spread over several fields, the winning amount is reduced, but the chance of winning is increased. Then the suspense increases: Where will the ball rest?
There are various options when placing the chips. Either you place the chips directly on the fields you have chosen or you ask the croupier to do it for you. You also have the option of betting on numbers from 1 to 36 or on corresponding subsets.
Now the real action begins: as soon as all bets have been placed, the croupier sets the pot in motion. Often one also speaks of the "wheel" into which the ball is thrown. Professionals, however, call it a kettle. As soon as the kettle is in motion, the ball is thrown in in the opposite direction of rotation. Now is the very last moment where bets can still be placed.
Another French roulette announcement ends the chance to place further bets: "Rien ne va plus" - "Nothing works anymore". As the rotation of the ball decreases, the tension increases. Only at the very end does it become clear in which field the ball will come to rest.
Showdown! Is the ball on the square you bet on? Congratulations - you have simply won a multiple of your bet. Everyone who bet on other numbers loses in this round. Once the winnings have been distributed and the losses collected, the roulette game goes into a new round.
Playing roulette in online casinos offers a key advantage over classic roulette: clarity. In the casino, lights, people and background noise quickly lead to overstimulation and many players cannot concentrate on their bets and fields. This does not happen in the online version. You are also not under any time pressure when playing online. You alone decide how long you have to place your bet. Only then does the wheel start to turn. So simply stay at home and enjoy the fun factor of playing roulette!
Depending on the roulette casino, there are also different rules according to which the game is played. The roulette games are played according to European or French rules, for example. French roulette, for example, follows the Partage or En Prison rules. In most cases, however, the European version is the standard. This is the most common version and has existed for over 200 years.
The "En Prison" rule in French Roulette offers the possibility of winning back the bet made one-to-one.
The rule "La Partage" in French Roulette means that you win if the white ball lands on the zero.
The chances of winning are very good with online roulette. For simple bets, it is 46.4 %, whether played online or in a casino. The numbers can be divided in three different ways; red or black, even or odd, low or high. This gives you a one in one chance of winning in each case.
18 numbers are red, 18 numbers are black. In addition, there is the zero. So if you bet on the colours (red or black), you have a high chance of winning of 46.4 %. If you win, this comparatively small bet means that your stake is doubled.
Besides the colours, bets can also be made on even or odd numbers. There are 18 even and 18 odd numbers on the pot and the tableau. Just like the bet on the colour, the chance of winning here is also 46.4 % on average. The winnings here are also double your bet from the table.
When betting on low or high, the chance of winning is 46.4%, as with the above betting options. Here you place your bet either on the higher or the lower half of the numbers (i.e. on the numbers from 1 to 18 or on the numbers from 19 to 36).
The third chance already indicates what is done in this type of bet: The numbers are divided into thirds. The 36 are divided into 3x12. You can now place your bet on one of these thirds. Logically, this division leads to a slightly lower chance of winning of 32.4 %. In return, you receive three times your stake if you win. Not bad either, right?
So that you don't stand out negatively in small talk with professionals, here's a tip on wording: the numbers from 1 to 12 are called the first dozen (French "douzaine", English "dozen"), those from 13 to 24 the second dozen and the numbers from 25 to 36 the third dozen. The winning odds here are two to one.
Besides the dozens, there are also columns on the roulette table (colonnes in French or columns in English). Just like the dozens, there are three columns. Each column contains 12 numbers, the zero does not count towards any of them. Here, every third number counts as a column. This results in column 34 (1, 4, 7, 10, etc.), column 35 (2, 5, 8, 11, etc.) and column 36 (3, 6, 9, 12, etc.). The chance of winning is 2:1, as with the dozens.
Transversals (English "Six line") denote six numbers from two consecutive transversal rows on the tableau. An example of a transversal is the numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. In this case, a player bets on "Transversal 4 to 9". When playing roulette in the online casino, you win if the ball lands on the numbers 4-9. The payout ratio here is 5 to 1, which is much higher than for the other bets. However, the chance of winning is correspondingly lower at 16.2 %.
The atmosphere in the casino differs, of course, from the cosy home of one's own home when playing in the online casino. However, what is exactly the same in usual casinos and games in the online casino is the probability of winning. When you play in an online casino registered in Switzerland, there are various security bodies and commissions that ensure your safety. The roulette game (and all other games on offer) are certified and comply with the standards of the latest legislation. As always in casinos, a win is based on chance and can hardly be influenced.
To become really successful at roulette, however, you need a little patience. First learn the rules and customs of roulette, then you can quickly develop and try out your own personal strategies and tactics.
